The Great North Run 2009 took place on 20th September 2009, and 21 runners turned out to raise funds for us. Again, the weather was incredible, beautiful blue skies, and a gentle breeze. There were 54000 runners taking part. As usual the noise generated by the crowds cheering along the route, and the variety of bands playing along the way to the kettle drums at the end, reinforced the celebratory atmosphere.
Of our runners, the first one back to our meeting point was Christian who managed the run in 1:35, followed by Chris (1:58), David (aka Baz, in 2:18), Sara and Susan in 2:19, Mike (2:29), Mary and Zuzka in 2:30, Chris and Barry, Ian, and Steve. Once again Richard and Debs were waiting to provide some refreshments and a pat on the back.
Unfortunately a few runners didn’t make it to the meeting point – Deborah, Mary, Richard, Claire, Andrew, Julian, Janet and Rebecca. We hope you managed to get round safe and sound! Can we just say again how grateful we are that you chose to run for The Wilf Ward Family Trust. It was truly enjoyable to watch. We hope the runners got as much if not more from running it.
