Great North Care Awards Success!

It was a great night for The Wilf Ward Family Trust on Friday 13th November at the Great North Care Awards celebration in York.  The Trust scooped the Care Innovator Award at the prestigious event in front of 700 people.  The Award was for the success of  the Helping Hands project which saw families from the London Borough of Enfield and their disabled children enjoy a holiday with support at Haven Holiday Parks in North Yorkshire.  The Wilf Ward Family Trust were able to replicate the support package that families ordinarily were provided with in London during their holiday stay.  This is thought to be the first service of its kind and received considerable praise from the families.  The Award was presented to Debbie and Ruth who accepted the award on behalf of the staff team in Scarborough and Ryedale who made the support packages work. Support to the families during their holiday included assisting families at key times of the day and evening with bathing, feeding and sitting services as well as activities for the disabled child.

Debbie, Director of Operations said “I would like to thank all the staff for their unique contribution and also colleagues from two other charities, The Family Fund in York and KIDS as well as Haven Holiday Parks and the London Borough of Enfield who made this all happen”.
