Two Very Different North Yorkshire Charities Steam Ahead
 

Fifty people with learning and physical disabilities enjoyed a day out on the North York Moors Railway courtesy of a generous group of fundraisers.
 
The Pickering District of the Rotary Club organised for the service users of The Wilf Ward Family Trust to enjoy a day out on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as well as lunch.
 
One of the Trust’s service users, Paul, cracked an egg on a shovel, which the driver fried on the coals!

John Fields, Treasurer, said: “The Rotary Club is pleased to once again support The Wilf Ward Family Trust and North Yorkshire Moors Railway with a day out like this.
 
“We  arranged a day out to Grosmont and have lunch on a Pullman dining car.
 
“We had 50 service users and their support workers enjoying themselves and the North York Moors Railway were extremely helpful in making this such a splendid day.”
 

Mr Fields added: “This is the third time we have done this and it’s been a great experience seeing so many local people enjoying the fruits of the local fundraising that we do..”

 

Three members of the Rotary Club also turned out on the day to act as stewards to help ensure the day went smoothly Andrew Cowling, President, John Fields, Treasurer, and Phil Fletcher, Rotarian all turned up to do their bit..
 
The Wilf Ward Family Trust is based in Pickering and offer a range of services for people who have social care needs. On the day, service users from Pickering, Malton, Norton and Scarborough made the trip.
 
Richard Pick, The Trust’s Chief Executive, said: “It’s great when two Pickering charities like The North Yorkshire Moors Railway Historical Trust and The Wilf Ward Family Trust can with financial backing from organisations like the Rotary Club, support each other this way!”
