The Wilf Ward Family Trust was founded in November 1986 to give relief to carers through the provision of residential respite units and day facilities. Our work began when our founding Trustees Wilf and Phyllis Ward established Isabella Court in Pickering as a Short Break service for people with disabilities.  Since then The Trust has grown and offers a range of services to children and young people with disabilities, adults with disabilities and older people.  These are delivered through a variety of settings including Personal or Home Care, Support in the Community including Activities and Supported Living Accommodation.  We also provide a range of Short Break and Holiday services, two Direct Payments Support Agencies and are now providing people who want to purchase services through Direct Payments or Personal Budgets.

In line with the founding Trustees' wishes that The Trust support carers with the demanding tasks they face, we have worked hard over the years in understanding the needs of these unsung heroes.  The Trust is particularly proud that this commitment has been recognised in being awarded the contract through North Yorkshire County Council to run the Selby & District Carers Centre.

Our ethos is to support individuals to maximise their independence in the community as well as enabling them to enjoy the same life chance opportunities experienced by non disabled people.

We are now a major employer in social care in the region with over 1100 staff.  We can offer jobs and careers such as Support Workers and Managers across more than 70 individual services - with new locations being continuously created.

We currently operate schemes and services in the Yorkshire, Humber and North East of England regions with specific services in the folllowing locations: Sheffield, Rotherham, Hartlepool, South Tees, Pickering, York, Leeds, Scarborough, Filey, Ripon, Norton, Malton, Selby, Bramham, Tadcaster, Howden, Thirsk, Beverley, Walkington, Wetherby, Northallerton, Harrogate, Whitby, Knaresborough, Market Weighton, Goole and Boston Spa.
